I am in a well here and hoping you are in the same well there. I'm writing this letter slowly, because I know you€ ¢Â cannot read fast.
We€ ¢Â don't live where we did when you left home. Your dad read in€ ¢Â the newspaper€ ¢Â that most accidents happen 20 miles from home, so we moved 20 miles.
€ ¢Â
I won€ ¢â' '¹t be able to send the address as the last family who stayed here took the house numbers with them for their new house so they would not have€ ¢Â to change their address. Hopefully by next week we will be able€ ¢Â to bring€ ¢Â our earlier address plate here, so that our address will remain€ ¢Â same too.
€ ¢Â
This€ ¢Â place is really nice. It even has a washing machine, situated right above€ ¢Â the commode. I'm not sure it works. Last week I put in 3 shirts, pulled€ ¢Â the chain and haven't seen them since.
€ ¢Â
The€ ¢Â weather here isn't too bad. It rained only twice last week. The first time€ ¢Â it rained for 3 days and second time for 4 days.
€ ¢Â
The€ ¢Â coat you wanted me to send you, your Aunt said it would be a little€ ¢Â too heavy€ ¢Â Â to send in the mail with all the metal buttons, so we cut them off€ ¢Â Â and put€ ¢Â Â them in the pocket.
€ ¢Â
Your€ ¢Â father has another job. He has 500 men under him. He is cutting the grass€ ¢Â at the cemetery.
€ ¢Â
By€ ¢Â the way I took Bahu to our club's poolside. The manager is€ ¢Â really badmash.€ ¢Â Â He told her that two-piece swimming suit is not allowed in this club.€ ¢Â Â We were confused as to which piece should we remove?
€ ¢Â
Your€ ¢Â sister had a baby this morning. I haven't found out whether it is€ ¢Â a girl€ ¢Â or a boy, so I don't know whether you are an Aunt or Uncle.

Your€ ¢Â uncle, Panta fell in a nearby well. Some men tried to pull him€ ¢Â out, but€ ¢Â he fought them off bravely and drowned. We cremated him and he€ ¢Â burned for€ ¢Â three days.

Your€ ¢Â best friend, Santa, is no more. He died trying to fulfill his father's€ ¢Â last wishes. His father had wished to be buried at sea after€ ¢Â Â he died.€ ¢Â Â And your friend died while in the process of digging a grave for€ ¢Â his father.

There€ ¢Â isn't much more news this time. Nothing much has happened.

The Birth of Mahavira

The Jain festival (parva) of Paryushana originates from the
practice adopted by itinerant monks of staying in one place
during the Indian monsoon. Paryushana means € ¢Ã¢â'¢¬Å'³to stay
closer€ ¢Ã¢â'¢¬€ ¢'½ and is taken symbolically as a period when
it is possible to re-establish a closeness with the soul. It is
the holiest time of the year for Jains, consisting of 8-10* days
of meditation, fasting and prayer and ending with a ceremony of
atonement meant to prepare the believer for emergence into the
world in a state of spiritual and moral refinement.
In one of the festival€ ¢Ã¢â'¢¬s more colourful rituals, the
story is told of the conception of Lord Mahavira, the man
considered to have shaped the Jain religion over 2,600 years ago.
The scriptures tell how Mahavira€ ¢Ã¢â'¢¬s mother had a series of
dreams at the time of his conception, each one prophetic of a
quality the future leader would display. Silver figures
representing these dreams and symbolic of virtues such as
strength, courage and wisdom are paraded through the congregation
and up to the altar; the money families bid for the privilege of
carrying these symbols is used to support the community.
The auction and presentation of these € ¢Ã¢â'¢¬Ë'¼dreams€ ¢Ã¢â'¢¬
is also a way of teaching Mahavira€ ¢Ã¢â'¢¬s story to the next
generation. Toward the end of the ceremony a silver coconut is
placed in a swing to represent the appearance of Mahavira in the
womb; each member of the congregation takes a turn at rocking the
swing, a symbol of nurturing the new life to come.

Letter is from Banta Singh of Punjab to Mr. Bill Gates of
Microsoft
Subject: Problems with my new computer
Dear Mr. Bill Gates,
We have bought a computer for our home and we have found some
problems, which I want to bring to your notice.

1. There is a button 'start' but there is no 'stop' button. We
request you to check this.

2. We find there is 'Run' in the menu. One of my friends clicked
'run' he ran up to Amritsar ! So, we request you to change that
to 'sit', so that we can click that by sitting.

3. One doubt is whether any 're-scooter' is available in system?
I
find only 're-cycle', but I own a scooter at my home.

4. There is 'Find' button but it is not working properly. My wife
lost the door key and we tried a lot trace the key with this '
find'
button, but was unable to trace. Please rectify this problem.

5. My child learnt 'Microsoft word' now he wants to
learn'Microsoft sentence', so when you will provide that?

6. I brought computer, CPU, mouse and keyboard, but there is only
one icon which shows 'MY Computer': when you will provide the
remaining items?

7. It is surprising that windows says 'MY Pictures' but there is
not even a single photo of mine. So when will you keep my photo
in that.

8. There is 'MICROSOFT OFFICE' what about 'MICROSOFT HOME' since
I use the PC at home only.

9. You provided 'My Recent Documents'. When you will provide 'My
Past Documents'?

10. You provide 'My Network Places'. For God shake please do not
provide 'My Secret Places'. I do not want to let my wife know
where I go after my office hours.

Ganesha mantras are siddhi mantras. Each mantra contains certain
specific powers of Lord Ganesha. Whenchanted with the proper
pranayama (rhythmic breathing) and sincere devotion, they will
yield good results. In general, Ganesha mantras will ward off all
evil and bless the devotee with abundance, prudence and success.
Evil spirits dare not enter the home or the mind of the devotee
where Ganesha mantras are recited. Those so mystically inclined
and knowledgeable of the seven chakras below the muladhara use
these powerful incantantions under the direction of the guru to
close off these regions of the mind one by one and free
consciousness from deep depression, confusion, jealousy, rage,
lingering anger and fear. Some such mantras are given below for
the spiritual benefit of the readers.

Important Note:
One more point to remember is that one should bathe or wash the
limbs before sitting for repetition of the mantra. Also, one
should do three or more pranayama before beginning the mantra.
The minimum repetition of the mantra should be one full mala, or
108 times. When this is done at a fixed hour and place regularly
for 48 days, it becomes an upasana, which means intense
meditation, that will yield siddhis, or spiritual powers. Another
warning to bear in mind is that one should use those powers only
for healing the sick and other such selfless actions for the
benefit of mankind. These powers should not be misused. Misuse of
power may bring the curse of the asuras.

their ways. The HUM symbolizes "Delay no more, my Lord, in
straightening the paths of the crooked-minded ones." This mantra
is used many times in the Ganesha Purana to curb the atrocities
of cruel demons. In addition, this mantra could also be used for
healing any spinal deficiency, such as curvature of the spine or
curved limbs. Dedicate 1,008 repetitions of this holy word to
